Pinkkejä roiskeita jouluksi - Pink splatters for Christmas

Jee, ensimmäiset joulukortit on tehty!!!

Wahey, I've made my first Christmas cards for this year!!! I started with these simple and not-so-overly-Christmassy cards just to ease myself into the Christmas card mode, I'm hoping the mode will stay with me so I can get some Christmas cards done before the dreaded 'Christmas card panic' kicks in ;) Anyways, onto the card. I bought some canvas pads a while ago from the local bookshop (at a reduced price, I might add :) ) and now I cut the background for my card from the canvas and splattered some pink acrylic paint on it, I had dilluted the paint with some water to make it more "splatterable" (I'm sure that is an actual word... hee hee!). Then I cut a square from pink corrugated cardboard and adhered a Christmas bauble on it, I die cut the bauble with a Marianne Design die. Then I just decorated the bauble with a simple satin ribbon - pink satin ribbon, of course ;) These were so quick and easy to make that I made four of them while I was at it.
P*skarteluhaaste challenge blog just happens to host a challenge this week where you have to use corrugated cardboard in your make so I'll submit my card there.

Kauhian kiva, kun kävääsit, kiitos jos kommentoitkin! Pinkkiä sunnuntaita! :)

Omapäiset auringonkukat - Sunflowers with their own mind :)

Sometimes it feels like cards have their own mind, their own spirit according to which they want to be made. It felt like that with this card: I was going to make a card with really strong, bold colours - strong yellow, orange, blue... - but see what happened? A card with more subdued colours! I guess that's fine as well.. :) The gorgeous sunflower image is a stamp by Stampendous (I just had to buy the stamp set when I saw these darlings... :) ), I coloured it with Distress Inks, cut out and adhered with 3D foam pads. There's some yellow cardstock by ColorCore which I die cut with a Spellbinders die and some green cardstock onto which I stamped with a background stamp by Artemio in VersaMark ink. I made the banner from kraft cardstock and heat embossed the sentiment ('congrats') in white. As embellies some rhinestones.

Kiva, kun kävit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit. Aurinkoista päivää! :)

18

Crafts and Me Challenges: #48 - Blues or Blue/Greens
My Time to Craft Challenge: #153 - G is for... GEARS

And again we're moving on to an older birthday boy, this card went to hubby's nephew who turned 18. I'm not really sure about this card, I have to confess. At first I had a brilliant idea, then it kind of disappeared but I came up with another idea but then that seemed to vanish, too... and  this is what I ended up with. I made the background with a ColorCore cardstock that has a black surface and this beautiful shade of blue underneath (thank you, Kissinia, for this! :) ). I embossed it with a Tim Holtz embossing folder and then sanded it to highlight the embossing a bit more. Then I die cut the gears with a Tim Holtz die, painted them with white crackle paint and stained very lightly with blue ink. I attached them to the background with 3D foam pads and joined them with a chain. I die cut the number with Chip Block die and applied Glossy Accents on it. Then I just adhered the whole thing to a card blank that I had folded from blue cardstock.
I'll enter this to following challenges:
Crafts and Me Challenges: #48 - Blues or Blue/Greens
My Time to Craft Challenge: #153 - G is for.... GEARS

Tervetuloa kevari! - Welcome light motorcycle!

14-vuotiaasta pari vuotta vanhempaan..

We're moving on to older birthday boy.. This card went to hubby's nephew who turned 16. The young man in question has been enthusiastic about light motorcycles for a while now and is at the moment in driving school to study for a driving licence for light motorcycles (16 is the age limit for that in Finland) - that's where my inspiration for this card came from! ;) The bicycle stamp is by DoodleFactory, I coloured the image with ProMarkers and added the red cross on it . The starry paper is by October Afternoon and the brown cardstock is by ColorCore. I die cut the number and the word 'kevari' (that's the Finnish colloquial term for a light motorcycle) with Tim Holtz's Chip Block die and the word 'tervetuloa' ('welcome' in Finnish) I wrote with a Dymo. So goodbye to bicycle and welcome to light motorcycles! :)

Salamoita ja tähtiä - Lightning bolts and stars

Divas by Design: Challenge 8 - Birthdays
Scrapbook Sisters: Challenge 47 - Stars
Creative Stamp Friends: Challenge 31 - Handmade Background
Inky Impressions Challenges: Challenge 21 - Birthday

My brother has four sons and my hubby's brother has four sons so I get to make "a few" boy cards every now and again ;) Especially the older boys have their birthday parties on the same day with each other as happened last week when three of hubby's brother's sons had their birthday party on the same day - I got to be on a boy card mode for a while... ;) This card went to a 14-year-old boy. I made the background on white paper with Distress Inks and some Goosebumps spray. The lightning bolts and the 'speed clouds' are stamps from the Urban Sky set by Tingtura Design which I stamped and coloured with Neocolor II wax pastels and smeared them a little with my fingers. I die cut the star with a Spellbinders die and coloured it with the same wax pastels. The number I cut out of cardstock and I darkened its edges with the Neocolors. The star is attached with 3D foam pads, the other elements I attached straight to the background. I don't know if this is a card that a 14 year old boy likes but I have to say that I liked it, the colours turned out really nice.
I'd like to enter this card to a few challenges:
Divas by Design: Challenge 8 - Birthdays
Scrapbook Sisters: Challenge 47 - Stars
Creative Stamp Friends: Challenge 31 - Handmade Background
Inky Impressions Challenges: Challenge 21 - Birthday

Kieloja - Lilies of the valley

A quick post of a quick card to round up the weekend :) I wanted to try a technique called 'fingerinking' that I learned in the Summer Card Camp so I made a quick card with it. First I stamped the Hero Arts Silhouette Bells stamp on a piece of cardstock and heat embossed it with white powder. Then I applied some Distress Inks dilluted with water to it with my fingers, that's fingerinking! It gives a nice watercolour painting type of finish, don't you think? I misted some perfect pearls to it to give it a nice sheen but it doesn't really show in the piccie. I stamped the background with Envelope Pattern by Hero Arts, punched the edge with a Martha Stewart punch and added a satin ribbon. Simples, again :)

Aurinkoista alkavaa viikkoa! :)

That's it for today, thanks for your visit and for any comment you may wish to leave me. Have a happy week! :)

Kipuileva keiju - Achy fairy

:) ). Lisänä vielä kukka ja nappi. Osallistun tällä Stampin' for the Weekend -haasteeseen, aiheena 'Spots&Dots'.

This little fairy demanded that she be placed on a get well card and I did as I was told ;) Her expression is quite sour and she looks like she's in some kind of pain... I figured that her head was aching (the branches growing out of her head acted as a clue ;) ) so I placed a bandage on it: it's a piece of cheese cloth and a tiny safetypin to hold it. I coloured her with Distress Inks, added some Rock Candy Stickles to her dress and little dots of glitter pen to her wings. I also added some ink to the edges of the stamped image. The papers I used are by Cosmo Cricket and Echo Park, the fairy stamp is Bad Hair Day by Sweet Pea Stamps (I don't really understand that name - I think her hair is just lovely! :) ) and the sentiment says 'get well soon'. As embellie a little flower and a button. I'll enter this to the Stampin' for the Weekend Challenge, the theme this week is 'Spots&Dots'.

Lähempää kuvaa keijun harsokääreestä / Here's a closer look on her cute little face and the bandage

Tällaista tällä kertaa. Mukava, kun käväisit ja mukava, jos kommentoit! Nautihan olostasi! :)

Farkkujen uusiokäyttöä - How to use old jeans :)

To your delight or horror (depending on your point of view ;) ) I'll post for the second time today :) The Finnish challenge blog P*skarteluhaaste has a challenge this week to make a tag and as I had this rose I made out of piece of old jeans wandering around my craft table, I decided to use it for this tag. The background paper is by October Afternoon and I applied some gesso on it. There's also some gesso on the rose and its "leaf" which is a piece of wide jute ribbon. As embellie I used a piece of old candle holder decoration (that's the thing with beads on the tag) which I once found at a fleamarket. There's also some tissue tape underneath the rose. I also used an eyelet to decorate the tag 'hole' and added some twine to it. I didn't put any sentiment on this as I'm not yet sure where I'll use this, I'll stamp it on the tag later.

Tässä vähän sivukuvaa tagista (ja meidän juomalasista :D ) / Here's a sideview of the tag, showing its dimensionality (please ignore the blue drinking glass :D ):

Tyttömäistä - Girly

Yritin tehdä yltiötyttömäistä korttia, joten tähän tuli sitten keijua, perhosta, blingiä, pinkkiä... :) Leimakuva on The Greeting Farmin Flutter Anya, tällä kertaa Distresseillä väritettynä (! yleensä väritän nämä ProMarkereilla, mutta nyt iski joku kumma ja ohitin ProMarkerit täysin...). Paperit on BasicGreytä ja doily ja kulmakoristeet stanssattu, perhoset leikattu Marthan leikkurilla. Lisänä hieman pompulanauhaa ja timanttiblingiä. Tuliko tarpeeksi tyttömäisyyttä? :D Ajattelin osallistua tällä pariin haasteeseen, sekä Papertake Weekly Challengella että Crafts and Me Challengesilla on aiheena 'Anything goes', joten niihin osallistun.

I tried to make as girly card as I could so I added everything girly to it, a fairy, butterflies, some bling, pink colour... :) The stamped image is Flutter Anya by The Greeting Farm coloured with Distress Inks (which is a surprise even to me as I usually colour TGF stamps with ProMarkers..). The papers are by BasicGrey, the doily and the corner 'thingies' are die cut with a Spellbinders die and the butterflies I punched with a Martha Stewart punch. Then I just added some pom-pom ribbon and a few rhinestones - is it girly enough, what do you think? :D I'll submit this to a couple of challenges, both Papertake Weekly Challenge and Crafts and Me Challenges are having the theme 'Anything goes'.

Ainakin täällä on sateinen päivä, joten toivottavasti tämä kortti tuo hieman aurinkoa päivääsi! Leppoisaa sunnuntaita ja kiitos, kun käväisit!

We're having a rainy day (well, a rainy weekend..) here, hope you're not but if you are, I'm hoping this card brings a little bit of sunshine to you. Have a relaxing Sunday and thanks for your visit! :)

Hääparille - To the happy couple

Minulla tuntuu olevan ehtymätön varasto näitä 'polkkaamattomia' kortteja, sillä nämäkin ovat pari kuukautta vanhoja tekeleitä. Kesän alussa tein pari hääkorttia, yhden tarpeeseen ja yhden varalle. Korttipohjaksi taitoin A4-kokoisen kartongin (kutsuttiinkohan tätä samettikartongiksi tms., siinä on kaunis kuviointi pinnassa) ja molempien korttien sisään laitoin myöskin taitetun A4:n kokoisen kuultopaperin tapaisen paperin, johon kirjoittaa.

I seem to have an endless supply of unblogged cards, these two are also a couple of months old makes as I did a couple of wedding cards in the beginning of the summer, one was needed straightaway, the other is still waiting for a happy couple. I made the card blank for both of these cards by folding in two a cardstock by the size of  21 x 30 centimetres. I also folded in two a vellum-type paper by the same size and added that to the insides of the cards. The heart stamps I used are by Stelpelglede as is the 'splatter' stamp I used on the first card, the sentiment says basically 'to the wedded couple'. I embossed all the stamped images with gold embossing powder. To the first card I added some golden fabric (don't know its exact name in English, sorry..) and in both the cards I used some wide golden satin ribbon.

Please believe me that the cards are actually similar in colour (the first photo shows the colours as they really were), something just happened with the light and the photos turned out quite funny..

Kuoreen leimasin ja embossasin kultaisella tuollaisen kiekuran koristeeksi (leimasin on Artemion).

I decorated the envelope by stamping and embossing with gold powder this swirly stamp by Artemio.

Hauskaa viikonlopun jatkoa! :)

That's all for today, thank you for your visit and for any comment you may wish to leave me. Have a fun Saturday! :)

Hortensia - Hydrangea

Osallistun tällä Moxie Fab Worldin Fanatical about Botanical -haasteeseen.

I needed a quick thank you card and it actually became so plain and simple that I thought long and hard whether to show it to you at all. I decided to show it anyway because I liked the end result so much. I made the card blank from pale purple cardstock (the card opens upwards) and stamped Hero Arts' Hydrangea stamp (love it!) in brown Versafine on it. I used the same ink on the sentiment (which says 'Thank you'). The only embellishment I used is simple white satin ribbon. I know this is pretty plain card but I think the stamp is so beautiful that it can be on its own on a card. I'll enter this to the Moxie Fab World's Fanatical about Botanical Challenge.

Mukava, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit. Hauskaa viikonloppua! :)
