Enkelitrio - A trio of angels

No niin, vihdoinkin niitä monta kertaa luvattuja joulukortteja! Tekstileima on Stempelkellerin. Vellum"lumihiutale" on stanssattu Papertrey Inkin stanssilla ja ensimmäiseen korttiin leimasin vielä saman firman leimalla tuollaisen kuvion paperiin vellumin alle. Lisäksi muutama puolihelmi. Paperit on Authentiquen ja BasicGreyn ja tuohon viimeiseen korttiin leimasin kuviopaperille Hero Artsin Modern Lines -taustaleimalla ja punaisella Shadow Inkillä, muissa taustan kuviopaperi on sellaisenaan ilman leimailuja.

OK, let's get back to the Christmas cards as I've promised you a couple of times already. And let's meet a trio of angels while we're at it, makes a change from the darkness of the last couple of blog posts, doesn't it? ;) These lovely little angels are stamped with a Sugar Nellie stamp and coloured with Distress Markers with a little clear ZIG Wink of Stella pen on the wings and the halos (unfortunately you can't really see it in the piccies but in real life they are beautifully glittery). The sentiment says 'Merry Christmas'. The vellum 'snowflake' behind the angels is die cut with a Papertrey Ink die, and the first card has a stamped doily behind the vellum, stamped with a PTI stamp. As embellies there are some sticky back pearls. I stamped with 'Modern Lines' background stamp by Hero Arts and red HA Shadow Ink on the patterned paper of the last card, the others have patterned papers on the background as is. The patterned papers I used are by Authentique and BasicGrey.

Kiitos, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit! Enkelimäistä tiistaita! :)

My dark side

Siitä sitten vanhan Friedrichin lause "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster". Ha, syvällistä! (Sanottuna suurella annoksella ironiaa ;D )

I know a couple of blog posts ago I promised you I'd show some more Christmas cards but whaddaya know, I won't! ;) That's because last weekend I was thinking about the current SODAlicious art journal challenge (theme is 'My dark side') and ended up making this art journal page for it. However, I won't show you my dark side (thank your lucky stars for that! ;) ), rather I started pondering how everyone has a dark side but no-one shows it, everyone tries to hide theirs, right? But should you? Should you fight the monsters to death or should you just let them out every now and again? And from there comes this quote from our old friend, Friedrich: 'Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster'. Ha, how deep am I! (and yes, I'm being very ironic here... ;D )

Notta sellaista. Ensi kerralla palaan niihin joulukortteihin! :) Kiitos, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit! Mukavaa maanantaita (hirviöiden kera tai ilman ;) )!

So there, but I promise next time I'll go back to my Christmas cards :) Thanks for your visit today and for any comment you may wish to leave me. Enjoy your Monday (with or without the monsters ;) )!

Tirppa ja tagi - A tag and a bird

A bloggy friend of mine celebrates her birthday in November and to celebrate, I sent her a birthday card and this tag. For the card I copied myself ;) as my bloggy friend had liked a certain card I had made earlier but as I didn't have that particular card anymore, I was forced to copy myself - so no pictures of the card today as you've already basically seen it! I wanted to create a mixed media tag for this friend of mine as I thought she might like it, so I used the usual suspects for this: gesso, Distress Stains, washi tape, punched vellum flowers, white Enamel Accents, etc. I used a couple of stencil and some rubber stamping, too. The bird is die cut with a Memory Box die and heat embossed with embossing powder.

Semmoista tällä kertaa. Seuraavassa postauksessa palataankin taas joulukortteihin... Kiitos, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit. Mukavaa torstain jatkoa! :)

So there, a little mixed media for today. The next blog post will be about Christmas cards once again... Anyways, thanks for your visit today and for any comment you may wish to leave me. Enjoy your day! :)

Pinkkiä lunta - Pink snow

(Please scroll down the page for the English version of my post, thanks!)

Pienellä muistutuksella mennään taas, eli Korttikarkurin Scrap a Happy Christmas - Christmas Cards Out of Scraps/Old Stash!

It's time to remind you of the card challenge over at Korttikarkuri: Scrap a Happy Christmas - Christmas Cards Out of Scraps/Old Stash! is currently going and you have time to participate until Christmas Eve, so get your scraps and old stash out and start making those Christmas cards!

I made my card using a stamped image that I meant to use for these Christmas cards. However, I inked my stamp a bit too generously and got pink ink onto to the snow part - not nice at all! I almost threw the image into the bin but in the last minute I remembered this challenge and decided to try and use the image after all. I needed to hide the ink on the snow so I made a round card - now you'd never know there's pink snow hiding underneath the rim of the card! ;) I die cut the little bird with a Memory Box die and added some dry glitter on it (the dry glitter is old stash, I bought it over a year ago and have used it only a couple of times). I stamped the sentiment on a vellum banner, roughly translated it says 'Warm Christmas greetings' in Finnish.

Now there's my card using scraps and old stash, for more inspiration please hop over to Korttikarkuri to see what the other DT members have created. And don't foget to participate in the challenge itself! :)

Liukuvärjättyä maisemaa - Ombré scene

Olen ihastellut liukuvärjättyjä leimakuvia erinäisissä blogeissa ja päätin itsekin yrittää samaa. Leimasin Hero Artsin Winter Trees -leiman kolmella Hero Artsin musteella: pinkkiin korttiin Soft Pink - Bubblegum Pink - Pale Tomato ja siniseen korttiin Soft Pool - Tide Pool - Pool.

I love the ombré effect I've seen used in stamping on many blogs and I wanted to try my hand at it, too. I chose the Hero Arts stamp 'Winter Trees' and inked it with three different Hero Arts Shadow Inks: the pink one is inked with Soft Pink - Bubblegum Pink - Pale Tomato and the blue with Soft Pool - Tide Pool - Pool. I stamped the card base with Hero Arts 'Tweed Pattern' background stamp and some HA ink. The sentiment says 'Christmas Joy' and is stamped on a vellum banner. As embellies there are a button and some paper twine. The blue card may show the ombré effect a bit better but I think the cards turned out quite fun and modern.

Scrap a Happy Christmas - Christmas Cards out of Craft Scraps! Challenge

(Please scroll down to the bottom of the page for the English version of my blog post, thanks!)

Marraskuun ensimmäinen tuo mukanaan uutta haastetta... Nimittäin Korttikarkurissa alkaa uusi joulukorttihaaste ja nyt olisi tarkoitus käydä ronskilla kädellä siellä sälälaatikolla. Haaste on nimeltään Scrap a Happy Christmas - Christmas Cards out of Craft Scraps ja Korttikarkurin Nonni kuvailee sitä näin:

Let's make Christmas cards using leftovers! If you are nothing like me your paper scraps box is overflowing and you might even have some odd, forgotten embellishments... Let's be creative getting rid of our stash and make Christmas cards out of old bits and pieces. All styles are welcome!

Askartelun iloa! :)

It's the 1st of November which means it's time for a new challenge... Korttikarkuri is once again hosting a Christmas card challenge and now we're looking for Christmas cards made using scraps. The challenge is called 'Scrap a Happy Christmas - Christmas Cards out of Craft Scraps' and this is what Nonni says about it:

Let's make Christmas cards using leftovers! If you are nothing like me your paper scraps box is overflowing and you might even have some odd, forgotten embellishments... Let's be creative getting rid of our stash and make Christmas cards out of old bits and pieces. All styles are welcome!

The challenge runs from November 1st until Christmas Eve, December 24th so you'll have plenty of time to participate :) And yes, there'll be a prize, too... :)

For my sample card I used some old Christmas themed patterned papers which I trimmed so that they were about 1 cm wide each. Then I simply weaved them together and adhered to a piece of scrap paper. I die cut a piece of white cardstock with a star die and attached the 'quilt' underneath it. I stamped the sentiment (it says 'Merry Christmas Happy New Year' and it's the same stamp I used in this sample card for the previous challenge) with Hero Arts Shadow Ink, and attached the whole panel on my card base with foam adhesives.

Now please hop over to Korttikarkuri to see the amazing makes my fellow DT members have made to inspire you and don't forget to take part in the challenge. Happy crafting! :)
